Broomhill Sculpture Garden

Broomhill Sculpture Gardens

12Sep

We do love this place Broomhill lies in one of the most glorious valleys in N.Devon, surrounded by hundreds of acres of woodland and bound by its own stream. Over the years it has organically grown into one of the largest permanent collections of contemporary sculpture in the south west of England.  It is truely awe-inspiring and you will find yourself mesmerised by many of the sculptures here.

RHS Rosemoor

12Sep

Rosemoor has been a source of inspiration for us over all the years we’ve lived here at Riverside Cottage. To have this award-winning gem in the north of Devon encircled by woodlands with an exciting Hot Garden, contrasting cool streamside garden and a host of scented roses is a real treat.  It is the number one place to visit for the majority of our guests.

Tarka Trail

12Sep

Over 30 miles of the Tarka Trail is available to cyclists and walkers between Braunton and Meeth, using the old railways of North Devon. Passing through the largely unspoilt countryside.  You can pick up the trail just 5 minutes walk away from the B&B opposite the river, then walk left for a more open coastal walk or right towards Torrington for a more cooler woody walk.

Saunton Sands

Braunton Burrows via Crow Point

12Sep

We always do a long walk once a week with the dogs and here is where we go…about 35 minutes from the B&B lying at the tip of Braunton Burrows, Crow Point is a curved spit of sand which lies at the entrance to the Taw-Torridge Estuary. The open views from here are simply stunning, as is the sense of space.

You can often see military activities taking place across the Burrows, but it’s big enough for everyone to enjoy.
